When the body temperature goes below normal set point, the human beings experience chills. Chills, is also referred to as rigor & it can be defined as a condition where the person experiences shaking condition with high fever. This condition should not be mistaken for a disease, but it is just a medical condition that can be cured. The person experiencing chills will have a kind of tingling sensation. Now, the hair follicles are flexed, which results in goose bumps. The person also experiences a cold sensation and dimpled skin at the back of the neck.
It is proved that chills are caused as a result of rapid muscle contraction & relaxation. It is accepted that chills is the condition by which the body generates heat. As a result of increase in the body’s temperature, a person experiences fever accompanied by chills.
Reasons for chills
Chills can be caused due to various reasons. Some of the most prominent ones are exposing oneself to cold environment; infections caused by virus & bacteria, for example, cold, etc.
The person affected by chills experiences headache, acute bronchitis, dry throat, muscle spasms, cramps in hands, no sweating, pink or red tongue and dull or pale complexion.
